RECLAIM Privacy Notice:
The RECLAIM network is hosted by the Global Centre for Clean Air Research (GCARE) at the University of Surrey, and therefore will store the network membership data on behalf of the RECLAIM network.
How GCARE handles your personal data
University of Surrey is registered as a Data Controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office (our notification number is Z6346945) and we are committed to ensuring that the personal data we process is handled in accordance with data protection legislation. We have a named Data Protection Officer, Elizabeth Powis, who can be contacted via dataprotection@surrey.ac.uk
One of our responsibilities is to tell you about the different ways we collect and use your personal data. This statement provides details about these uses. In addition to this Privacy Notice you may be given further information about the use of your personal data when you use certain services offered by the University of Surrey.
What information do we collect from you?
GCARE collects and stores personal data about individuals who register The data we collect includes:
1) Name
2) Email address
3) Institution
4) Type of work
5) And the information detailed in RECLAIM network’s membership form for new members.
We receive this data from you when you complete our RECLAIM NETWORK: MEMBERSHIP FORM FOR NEW MEMBERS.
Why do we collect this information?
The University collects only the data we need, and we will keep the data up to date and only for as long as it is needed. We collect your personal data in order to:
1) Register your membership for the RECLAIM Network
2) Contact you with details about the RECLAIM Network related activities
3) Provide a way for you to contact others, or for others to contact you, via the network to help share expertise
(if you consent to this)
We take our obligations for data handling very seriously and only process your information with your consent, specifically to contact you with regards to the Network news.
How long do we keep your information?
When we collect your data, it is held securely and is only accessed by GCARE administrative staff. The data you provide when you register will be kept until the network is closed down and then destroyed.
Who do we share your information with?
Your personal data will not be shared with anyone internally or externally and will only be used for the purposes explained in this privacy notice. As a RECLAIM Network objective, you should be able to contact other members ‘via the network’.
What rights do you have in relation to the way we process your data?
If you no longer wish to be part of the Network and would like to withdraw your consent for us to hold and process your data, please contact: Network Project Manager (info@reclaim-network.org). You can find detailed information about your rights as a data subject on the University’s web page here. If you have any questions or concerns about the use of your personal data, please contact dataprotection@surrey.ac.uk.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office about the way in which we process your personal data, if you are not satisfied with our response to your concerns.
